FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some questions I get regularly from clients. Feel free to reach out if there are any additional questions you may have!

What should I wear to my photo session?

The goal is that we capture you looking like YOU on your best day! The perfect outfit is one that is comfortable to move in and makes you feel confident. I love colors as much as neutrals, and if you’re a pattern lover? Go for it! If you are organizing a session with a partner or your family, I’d avoid any clashing patterns as well as head-to-toe matching and would be happy to advise on any outfit coordination. Completely stumped? I can make suggestions based on your shoot location and season.

Where are some good locations in NYC for photos? Any spots that aren’t crowded?

Some iconic NYC faves of mine include: Brooklyn Bridge Park, SoHo, Central Park at 59th st, Grand Central, or Bethesda Terrace. For all of these, I would recommend starting early in the day to avoid crowds. If photos during Golden Hour are important, please consider a weekday!

I also love the Central Park Conservancy (such a hidden gem), Battery Park City, South Street Seaport, Prospect Park, West Village, Transmitter Park, and Gantry State Park (both along the East River waterfront). These tend to have a little less foot-traffic!

The best images are those that feel personal and true to you. Some of the best locations are the ones you know about (your fave pizza shop, the bench outside the bar you met at, your local dog park). Let’s chat about a location that reflects that!

Please note that many private institutions such as the NYPL, Museums, or Restaurants will not allow photography or will only allow it with prior permission. If we cannot obtain permission, I will help come up with alternatives that have the same look and feel of your fave spot.

What happens if there is rain forecasted on our scheduled day?

I want your photoshoot to be perfect! If the day is looking like it will be a total rain-out we can be in communication for a reschedule, no problem! Keep in mind that overcast days are absolutely great for photography (nice even light), and sometimes rain early in the day passes by the evening!

What is the best time of day for photos?

This depends on the season! Early in the day is always great to avoid intense sunlight and crowding. I highly recommend sunrise sessions for couples. Golden Hour is also great for those dreamy light-filled vibes (exact timing for this depends on the time of year, in winter it’s around 4pm, late summer 6pm/7pm). This being said, I open to shooting any time of the day! I understand that sometimes work schedules or your kid’s nap time might mean that we need to hold your session at 1pm and that doesn’t mean we won’t get beautiful images. Direct sunlight can be beautiful too!

WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO POSE! WILL YOU POSE US?

Yes! When you look through my portfolio or social media, please keep in mind that 90% of clients you see came to me saying the same thing. I will guide you through poses that work best for your body, energy and how you move. All I ask is that you come willing to “give in” and embrace the process. My goal is that it is fun-filled and you also look great!

Do you have a studio space we can shoot in?

I do not (currently) offer a studio space, but I have plenty affordable options I can highly recommend including FD Studios, BK Studios, and Peerspace is a great resource for traditional studios (with backdrops/cyc walls) as well as home vibe options.

Will you retouch my images? How much editing do you do?

All your images will be delivered with editing for exposure, tone, and general look and feel. I edit true-to-color and to the season. This means the colors of your photos will generally look like an enhanced version of what you see with your own eye! In the summer I like to highlight greens and vibrant colors, in the fall I love to bring out oranges, browns, reds and yellows, in the winters I highlight blues, whites and earth tones. You can get a feel for my editing style by looking through my website and social media.

I am happy to extended retouching if you book a headshot session and we can discuss your options upon booking. As a general rule of thumb, I will only retouch things that can be changed in 2 weeks or less (i.e. pimples, make-up smudges). I do not do any body modification. NYC is a busy city, there is a high chance others will be in the background of your photos. I will do my best to avoid people, but sometimes it’s the joy of the city to embrace that there are others around! Please consider an early morning shoot or a less popular location if having people around is an issue for you.

Who has rights over the images we take together?

We will have shared rights over the images we take. I am a referral business and I find more beautiful clients like you through sharing and showcasing my work! I do not currently sell any photos I take with clients and your photos will mostly be used for portfolio purposes. If complete privacy is important for you, especially if you are considering a newborn or family session, please let me know and we can talk through your contract options.

How soon will I receive my final images? How will I receive them? How many will I get?

Typically gallery delivery is between 2-3 weeks. For weddings or large scale events timeline varies and gallery delivery usually falls between 4-8 weeks. Have a tight deadline? Please let me know ASAP and I can make arrangements for a rushed gallery or preview collection.

You will receive your gallery via digital download link or in an online gallery. The links are good for up to a year from your delivery date and I recommend downloading your full gallery to your computer or drive for safe keeping. I keep an archive of all photos but cannot guarantee your images past 1 year.

I do not currently have minimums or maximums on your gallery sizes and your final # of images depends on any number of factors. I do typically include around 50 images per shooting hour.

ARE YOU INSURED?

I have insurance and can provide a COI if your venue, company, or event require formal documents. I just need your business name, address, phone number, representative information within 48 hours of your event to ensure documentation in time.
